| That Stubborn
Cellulite
Mesotherapy originated in France
in the 1950’s and is now spread around the world. It
is the practice of injecting small amounts of medications
and vitamins, into the skin to bring healing properties to
the treated areas. For our fibromyalgia patients they have
noticed a reduction in pain and greater range of motion. Many
of our patients being treated for fibromyalgia and chronic
fatigue with Mesotherapy have also noticed a side benefit
of adipose reduction and improvement with cellulite. Mesotherapy
has helped some of our patients with excessive lower back
adipose tissue and for some of our patients a reduction in
moderate cellulite.
Mesotherapy is also used
in this country for pain management, aesthetic therapy such
as allopecia (hair loss), reduce cellulite and fat in unwanted
areas, and for skin rejuvenation. For target cellulite areas
Mesotherapy results can be quite pleasing in reducing the
“cottage cheese” appearance of multiple dimples
in the skin. This occurs in 90% of post-pubescent women. When
Mesotherapy is performed the cellulite area develops increased
blood flow and lymphatic flow, helping to decrease the appearance
of fat deposits.
For patients that suffer from
sports injuries, Mesotherapy has been helpful for ligament
sprains, muscle tearing, muscular bruises, over-use injuries,
and ligament strains/sprains. The advantage to Mesotherapy
with these types of injuries is that the medications injected
utilize extremely short needles thus the medication can remain
in the tissue for longer periods of time and travel down into
the deeper tissues.
We also find it is extremely
value for hormonal regulation. Hormonal regulation includes
proper ratios of estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone
along with thyroid hormones. Many of our patients have improved
with proper hormonal regulation and Mesotherapy.
